The Des Moines Science Fiction & Fantasy Society is about supporting science, literacy and the arts. Each year our literary convention DemiCon: Des Moines Annual Science Fiction, Fantasy and Gaming Convention chooses a charity we wish to support.

We also support other charity groups throughout the year. For example, participation in walks for charities that support science and finding cures, such as the American Cancer Society Relay for Life and Heart Heroes Superhero Heart Run.
One of the groups we support is Bras for the Cause. Our talented artists create pieces of artwork around a bra to be donated and auctioned off raising funds for this non-profit organization. Bras for the Cause is committed to ensuring that all Iowans, uninsured or underinsured, have access to mammograms, cervical screenings and related medical programs or projects.
At the 2017 Bras for the Cause gala our donation was one of the Bra Design Winners. Our donation was titled “Fire of the Dragon”.
